The Inverter Drive Supermarket is one of the UK's leading independent distributors of industrial motor control equipment. We specialise in variable speed drives, soft starters, servo systems, electric motors and automation components from many of the world's leading manufacturers.

Since our foundation in 2006, our aim has remained simple: make it easier for engineers to find the correct product, backed by knowledgeable technical support, competitive pricing and fast delivery.

Today we supply customers in more than 150 countries, from individual engineers requiring a single replacement drive through to OEMs, panel builders and multinational manufacturers.

Our Story

The company was founded in 2006 by Colin Gibson, following more than three decades working within the industrial drives industry, including Brown Boveri (now ABB) and Shackleton System Drives, later Eurotherm Drives and Parker SSD Drives. His vision was to combine genuine engineering knowledge with the efficiency of an online business.

In 2010, Simon Gibson became the majority shareholder and assumed responsibility for the day-to-day running of the company. Since then, the business has expanded considerably, investing heavily in technology, logistics and technical resources while remaining independently owned and customer focused.

Although much has changed over the years, our philosophy has not. We believe customers should be able to purchase industrial automation equipment with the same ease and confidence as any other online purchase.

More Than Just a Distributor

We don't simply list products from manufacturers' catalogues.

Our team creates the vast majority of product photography in-house, producing detailed image sets that allow customers to inspect products before ordering.
